Hey guys! I would like you all to meet Bella. At 4 PM on July 19, 2014, the Humane Society of Mercer County, Pennsylvania received a call about an abandoned dog staked in the woods and left to die. When responders arrived, they discovered Bella, an emaciated boxer-beagle mix, wearing a collar made of knotted fabric and a tree branch. The collar had been tied so tightly around her neck that it had cut through an entire layer of muscle around her neck. After removing it, they also realized the wound was maggot infested and requires immediate attention. The responders fed her and took her to the vet, where Bella was sedated while she fights the infection. After the infection is contained, she will have to endure a surgery to have the muscles in her neck properly reattached.
The town of Mercer, along with Sarah, the wonderful individual who brought Bella to my attention, are raising money to help save Bella’s life and eventually find her a forever home. With the help of community member Carolyn Schumacher and the Humane Society president Sheryl Giles, the community is hoping to raise the funds needed to cover Bella’s medical treatment. So far, estimated costs for surgery and recovery will be $3,500, and only $65 dollars has been raised so far. I know many people on tumblr don’t have a lot of spare change to donate, but even fifty cents will get Bella closer to her goal, and any amount is appreciated.

Just because your pain is understandable, doesn’t mean your behavior is acceptable.

Keep this one in your back pocket for the next time someone acts like an ass and then tells you they’ve been through a lot of stuff. Respectful and yet still firmly keeping respect for yourself.
